Frequently Asked Questions

What are your hours?
We are open from 6:30 am – 6 pm
What days will you be closed?
We are a year round facility, and are open 5 days/week, and will follow the Oak Ridge School System for weather. We will have other days that we are closed for holidays, and in-service days. These days will be coming soon.
Is there a vacation policy?
You can take a vacation anytime that you wish; your monthly tuition remains the same. Tuition is not pro-rated if you are out.
Have you hired all your teachers yet?
We are in the process of hiring all staff; some will move over from our current Early Learning Center, and we have hired new staff, and are interviewing.
What experience/required credentials do your teachers have?
Most teachers will have a BA degree or an AS degree in Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies or another related field; we also have teachers that have gone through the CDA and TECTA programs that are certificate programs designed for staff who do not have degrees, but teach them about development and practices from birth to five. In addition, all staff go through mandatory trainings by state licensing, and by us (Brittany Webb and Anna Moore, and other professionals in the field.
Will teachers make lesson plans?
All age groups have lesson plans, and they are correlated by the Early Learning and Developmental Standards; we observe classrooms, and many of the teachers we employ have worked with children under five and know a great deal about how they learn, how to individualize, and we also have support staff from the Early Intervention team that will be coming to the center for training and support. Lesson plans are required by Daycare Licensing. Lesson plans help teachers to plan experiences for children, and also, to be able to explain how they are tied to the Early Learning and Development Standards for Tennessee.
Do the teachers plan to take the children outside? Is there a playground?
All children are required to go outside per state licensing standards, and it is best practice for children to have outside time! We are working on playground space.
What will be the classroom ratios?
Different age groups are allowed different ratios, however, we follow the most staffing supervision plan because we think it is best practice. For infants, this is 1:4, 2 adults in each classroom. The numbers of children in rooms go up, as they get older.
Do you provide diapers and wipes?
We do not provide diapers or wipes.  We provide snacks once children are able to eat solid food; sheets are provided on beds.
How does lunch work? Does the facility have a kitchen?
Families will bring their children’s lunch; we are also talking with a caterer about parent option for having their child’s lunch brought in. There is not a kitchen on site.
How will teachers and parents communicate?
We have a software called brightwheel that teachers and families can communicate on and show and share pictures/ messages/ etc. We will not be doing livestream. We have a transition period as children are ‘aging up’- this involves going and seeing the next room up and staff; staying for short periods of time in that class/ group, and often, children already know the staff as groups do go outside together. You will be informed of transitioning.
How will the facility be secured?
We are currently working on this with the contractors in regards to a lock/ key entry, and a ‘card’ etc.
